They were making Indian pudding already before USA became independent, and there was no tapioca in it. But sure, three generations are "generation after generation".Ketutarhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17817006362006690145noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1311763984794615262.post-74603101589778865792014-05-25T06:43:33.413-04:002014-05-25T06:43:33.413-04:00I cooked it at home once, it was not good. I blog on New England food traditions and create dishes from old recipes kept by family members, particular my great-grandmother. It just so happened that my great-grandmother tucked the recipe by Anna Foss into an old cookbook. I found it and decided to make Anna Foss's Indian Pudding.Katehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/16546194426696120220noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1311763984794615262.post-67983052240468151812012-03-26T00:50:29.788-04:002012-03-26T00:50:29.788-04:00Dr Ralph Foss and my grandfather, Philip Nichols, ...Dr Ralph Foss and my grandfather, Philip Nichols, were first cousins. My grandfather's mother wrote of both Anna and Ralph many times in her diary. I remember my mother talking about them both with great fondness. I have a drawer full of my mother's old recipe cards including some of Anna's. I will look for them tomorrow and let you know what I find. Are you descended from Rosamond or Frances?amroche1https://www.blogger.com/profile/08270216568922603806noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1311763984794615262.post-46207296845432664362011-08-12T01:14:50.739-04:002011-08-12T01:14:50.739-04:00We think that's a good touch i.e. the tapioca....We think that's a good touch i.e. the tapioca. Indian Pudding has been a family tradition of our family for over 100 years. The same recipe has been handed down generation after generation (with tapioca!). But, what does our family know? My great grandmother was a member of DAR and our bloodline goes back to Samuel Chase (yes, the one that signed the Declaration of Independence).Amynoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-1311763984794615262.post-58236977197682856442010-07-31T07:58:46.386-04:002010-07-31T07:58:46.386-04:00Indian Pudding with tapioca seems a little blasphe...Indian Pudding with tapioca seems a little blasphemous to me!Peter Muisehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/05939949561996555115noreply@blogger.com
